France calls on companies to relieve employees enlisted as firefighters to battle blazes

 

Paris (CNN) Fewer than two weeks after two significant fires decimated more than 20,000 hectares of forests in the same area, thousands of hectares have been lost as a new fire continues to burn in the Gironde region of southwest France.

As a fourth heat wave since June hits much of the country, the French government is urging businesses to make their employees who are enlisted volunteer firefighters accessible throughout August to combat the fires.
